However to reach this level of collaboration, there must be an environment which fosters creativity and focus. This is why our lodges – Stuckgowan and Stuckdarach by Loch Lomond and Stucktaymore by Loch Tay are the perfect centres to host a writing retreat in Scotland.
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs has seen many famous writers pass through seeking inspiration from this magical landscape. Storytellers such as Jules Verne and Sir Walter Scott and poet Gerard Manley Hopkins have all spent time here. Meanwhile at Loch Tay, this area is steeped in history with human civilisation going back 9,000 years. What stories can be found to tell here today?
Our locations are quiet and dreamlike, surrounded by natural beauty and human history. Nearby mountains, forests and of course lochsides are perfect for inspiring the next great story. Distractions are kept to a minimum, but there is still plenty of space and opportunity for networking and brainstorming.
Writing space
Our 5-star properties offer a luxurious stay for writers to enjoy. Whilst each one has its own particular style, they all share a sense of coming together. Enjoy large dining areas so that everyone can come together and share. We have media rooms for movie nights, or to support presentations. All kitchens are fully equipped to make food preparation fun so that healthy and brain-boosting meals are available. However, should you wish, we can also arrange for a chef and waiting staff to attend to you meal needs. Just let us know when you book.
Everyone has the space for quiet contemplation as well as meeting to discuss works. With Wi-Fi throughout, story research will also be possible. Daily housekeeping is also available, so you can be sure the property will always be in a tip-top condition for your writers.
