Stucktaymore
Historic 19th-century hunting lodge
Stucktaymore was originally built as a summer hunting lodge for the Earl of Breadalbane in 1843. The estate once spanned over 50,000 acres along the north shore of Loch Tay, encompassing much of what is now the village of Killin. Over the years, the property served various purposes, including a repository for Scotland’s records during World War II and a hotel. Today, after a complete renovation and upgrade, it stands as a luxurious private residence.
This stunning house offers 13 ensuite bedrooms accommodating up to 29 guests. It features a large kitchen with extensive facilities, a spacious dining room, a sitting room with stunning Loch Tay views, a stone-built snug with an open fire, a library, and a baby grand piano. Additional amenities include a utility/boot room, a media room with an 80-inch TV, a games room, a terrace with dining space and a hot tub, expansive lawns, woodlands with crisscrossing paths and three fire pits.
Stuckgowan
Grand family home and estate
The house and grounds of Stuckgowan were built for the McMurrick family between 1798 and 1820 as their country retreat. At that time, the estate encompassed 5,000 acres, including much of the village of Tarbet and extending over the hills to Arrochar. John McMurrick was a prominent local businessman and steamship owner, who co-owned the first steamboats to navigate Loch Lomond. He designed Stuckgowan House in a stunning Tudor-Gothic style. Built from granite stone quarried within the grounds of the estate, the house became known as the “Grand Lady of the Loch”. Now the house has been meticulously renovated and restored with bespoke furnishings to create an exceptional holiday home.
The property has 9 bedrooms and 6 bath/shower rooms, and sleeps up to 19 guests. The spacious kitchen features a breakfast bar and window seating ideal for large breakfasts or late-night gatherings. The house includes a study, gym, snooker table, and various thoughtful amenities for a comfortable stay. The snug offers garden and loch views, games and a TV, while the luxurious lounge with a log fire leads to a large dining room. The media room provides entertainment for all the family. Outside, a terrace with dining and a 7-seater hot tub overlooks Loch Lomond.
Stuckdarach
Former estate office for Stuckhowan
Built in 1820, on the same Loch Lomond country estate as Stuckgowan, this building originally served as the Estate Manager’s house. It included the estate office, workshop, stables, tack room, boathouse, and a walled garden for growing fruit and vegetables. A complete renovation saw a new structure built within the original stone walls, transforming Stuckdarach into a modern, contemporary holiday home.
This house has 5 bedrooms, 4 bath/shower rooms, and a stunning studio apartment with an additional bedroom and shower room. It accommodates between 4 and 12 guests. The house features a large sitting room with a double-height ceiling, French doors and a wood burner for cosy evenings. A snug offers a perfect retreat or quiet break. Enjoy the private walled garden with lawns, patios and a relaxing hot tub.
