Why we love lochside holidays in Scotland
Loch is the Scottish word for lake, and our lakes are some of the most beautiful in the world! Our Stucktaymore property sits high on a hill overlooking Loch Tay, while Stuckgowan House and Stuckdarach are situated on the same estate by Loch Lomond. Both of these lochs are truly breathtaking and you’ll enjoy the perfect view from our houses. It’s not far to get down to the waterside, where you can enjoy a wealth of activities and adventures. From relaxing cruises to thrilling sports, there’s something for everyone.
- You can take in the stunning scenery from your holiday house and grounds, from panoramic views to magnificent sunsets.
- You don’t even have to leave the house to experience the benefits of warm bubbly water. Soak in the hot tub and enjoy the views.
- Being close to the water is a treat for all the senses. The relaxing sounds of moving water can calm, motivate and inspire us.
- A leisure cruise is a great family-friendly way to get out on the loch and see the sights. Local companies like Loch Tay Safaris and Cruise Loch Lomond offer a range of boat trips.
- For keen anglers, the Scottish lochs are simply a haven. Many of the lochs and rivers have salmon, trout and pike. (Check Fishpal for fishing locations and permit information.)
- Wild swimming is a fantastic way to improve your fitness and your mood. (Always swim with a buddy and follow this safety advice.)
- For the thrill-seekers, activity companies such as In Your Element and Cruise Loch Lomond will take you canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and more.
- The lochs are rich in wildlife and provide an opportunity to connect with nature. In and around the water, you may spot a wide variety of fish, birds, mammals, reptiles and insects.
